Latest University and Specialist library catalogues added to Discover

We’re pleased to announce that the holdings of the University of West London, the Salvation Army International Heritage Centre, Museum of the Order of St John Library, Glasgow School of Art and Oxford Brookes University have been added to the Library Hub Discover service.

University of West London

The University of West London operates libraries at two sites, in Ealing and Reading. Their main Paul Hamlyn Library is in the St Mary’s Road campus. The Reading Campus Library serves the Berkshire Institute for Health and covers nursing and health-related topics, along with computers, study spaces and library support.

Archive, library and museum relating to the Christian Mission (1865-1878) and The Salvation Army (from 1878), and the founder William Booth (1829-1912) and his family. Reference library of some 3,000 books and pamphlets, from the 1850s to the present. Comprehensive collection of UK Salvation Army periodicals (from 1868) and some international periodicals.

Museum of the Order of St John Library

The Museum of the Order of St. John Library is a reference collection specialising in the history of the Knights Hospitaller, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem and the international first aid charity St John Ambulance. The library holds significant resources on subject areas such as the crusades, the history of the military and religious orders in Europe, the geography and history of the islands of Malta, Gozo and Rhodes, and of the Priory of Clerkenwell in London. Also well represented in the collection are works on heraldry, genealogy, archaeology and numismatics, particularly related to the Order of St. John and its members.

Glasgow School of Art is one of Europe’s leading university-level institutions for the visual creative disciplines. Founded in 1845, it is a small specialist institution of around 2500 students, offering undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes across art, design, architecture and digital design. Its lending library has been collecting material since its foundation, and today holds a collection of around 80,000 volumes, principally focusing on contemporary creative practice.

  • Swindon Library (Health and Social Work)
