Our services rely on many different data types from organisation names and journals/ISSNs down to individuals, times and places. However, each service is not necessarily relying on the same source for the same data type. We feel this is a significant duplication of effort that could be avoided and an opportunity to standardise our data.
Our desire is to create data registries, one for each of our common data sets, e.g. organisations. Each data registry will deliver relevant data to services as needed, with data being managed once per set, rather than each service carrying out this effort. These efficiencies will not only save time, but will also enable better service interoperability and provide the underlying data model to explore new opportunities.
