We are writing to let you know about some upcoming maintenance work planned for the National Bibliographic Knowledgebase (NBK), the database that underpins Jisc’s Library Hub services (Library Hub Discover, Library Hub Cataloguing, and Library Hub Compare).
Background
Since the NBK began in 2019 more than 200 libraries in the UK and Ireland have contributed to the database. This is an increase of more than 100% on the size of the database underpinning Library Hub’s predecessor, Copac. To ensure the longevity and security of our services, we are carrying out some planned infrastructure work. This will enable faster indexing and the possibility of future expansion and development.
What you need to know
Library Hub Discover, Library Hub Cataloguing and Library Hub Compare services will continue to operate as before, and current contributors should still send us their updates as they do now. The addition of new library catalogues to the NBK will be on hold until the work is complete. If you would like to ask us about any aspect of the work, the NBK, or our Library Hub services, please contact us at help@jisc.ac.uk (please state that your enquiry is for the Library Hub service.)
Your feedback
To enable us to build a clear picture of the needs and priorities of users and to develop future systems accordingly, we will be carrying out reviews of our three services. If you would like to participate, or if you have any suggestions of ways in which we could improve our services, please contact us at help@jisc.ac.uk. We’d really appreciate your feedback.
